This an obedience class aimed at developing team work with your dog using Rally obedience exercises and obedience drill work. This will be a class geared toward the trainer who wants to have a fun time with their dog while building skills to build your dog's focus and encourage good behavior. We practice in a variety of situations using the distraction of class participants and their dogs. This class will run 6 weeks and will last approximately 1 hour.
Instructor, Jean Freeman, shows her dogs in Rally Obedience, Nosework, Shed Hunting and Hunting Retriever Tests and has competed in AKC Agility competitions. Two of Jean's dogs, Autumn and Honey, are also certified therapy dogs. She has 7 Labrador Retrievers who live in her home. Jean is also an AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy Evaluator and offers those classes as well as Therapy Dog Preparation and Pet CPR and First Aid Courses.

We will be working on basic obedience skills, and household manners as well as learning skills to keep your dog safe.
Controlled walking on a loose leash, sit, down, stay, come when called, mannerly greetings, waiting in doorways and go to your quiet place will be the basics. This class will be a good foundation if you wish to move on to more advanced training, showing your dog, or trying any of the many dog sports. A 6ft leash will be best to use as well as a flat collar or training collar of one kind or another. We can make collar adjustments and suggestions as we begin working. Harnesses are not good training tools and I prefer they not be used.
